Wachu-an, Kyoto
Wachu-an was built by Hikoshiro Fujii (1876-1956), a textiles business tycoon. It was designed with rich taste and a deep understanding of Japanese culture in mind. The mansion came into the possession of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1949. Later, it was renovated and utilised as a convent until the Notre Dame Jogakuin Junior and Senior High School purchased it in 2008.
